Winning Inline Hockey Faceoffs

Three Basic Strategies to Winning Faceoffs!

Three Basic Inline Hockey Strategies to Winning Faceoffs!

  1. Use strength and quickness: Get your stick on the puck or ball before your opponent does. Concentrate on the puck when it's still in the official's hand.
  2. Play the opposing player's stick instead of the puck: Slide your stick under your opponent's stick and lift your stick up, so he/she cannot make contact with the puck. Then quickly play the puck with your stick and get it out to your teammate.
  3. Tie up your opponent: One strategy is to lift your opponent's stick or place your stick over theirs and press firmly down, tying him/her up so they cannot get the puck, and then kick the puck with your skate, directing the puck wherever you want it to go.'

Inline Hockey Faceoff Technique

  • Make sure everyone on your roller hockey team is aware of the playbook and what you will do.
  • Move your lower hand down the shaft of the stick for maximum strength and control.
  • Position your feet slightly wider than your shoulders and bend your knees to get a low center of gravity.
  • Pay attention to the puck in the official's hand.
  • React quickly and whether you win or lose the draw, do not allow the opposition center to charge through the faceoff area, hold him up.'
