Three Basic Inline Hockey Strategies to Winning Faceoffs!
- Use strength and quickness: Get your stick on the puck or ball before your opponent does. Concentrate on the puck when it's still in the official's hand.
- Play the opposing player's stick instead of the puck: Slide your stick under your opponent's stick and lift your stick up, so he/she cannot make contact with the puck. Then quickly play the puck with your stick and get it out to your teammate.
- Tie up your opponent: One strategy is to lift your opponent's stick or place your stick over theirs and press firmly down, tying him/her up so they cannot get the puck, and then kick the puck with your skate, directing the puck wherever you want it to go.'
Inline Hockey Faceoff Technique
- Make sure everyone on your roller hockey team is aware of the playbook and what you will do.
- Move your lower hand down the shaft of the stick for maximum strength and control.
- Position your feet slightly wider than your shoulders and bend your knees to get a low center of gravity.
- Pay attention to the puck in the official's hand.
- React quickly and whether you win or lose the draw, do not allow the opposition center to charge through the faceoff area, hold him up.'
